What's new??

Other than the fact that it has been 80 degrees for the past week, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. I have the luxury of working downtown on Congress so I get to see all the great lights and decorations not to mention the huge tree that they put up just today in front of the Capital (poor Jake, you know I'm going make you take pictures in front of it). The weather says that the high tomorrow is going to be 41!!!! Thanks goodness for cold weather. I just got off the phone with the lil sis and she said it might snow tomorrow in Lubbock...talk about random Texas weather.

Thanksgiving re-cap:
Thanksgiving was great, other than the fact I only got the day of off from work. I woke up bright and early on Thursday morning to run what I thought was a 5K. I soon realized that it was a 5 mile race (huge difference when you're only used to 3.2 miles) . No worries I finished it 10 minutes faster than I wanted to so that was fabulous...1 hour 5 minutes and 32 seconds! Keep in mind I am not a runner and I mainly walk the whole thing, but that is still pretty fast. After the race mom, dad, Beth and I got in the car and headed to the ranch to eat with the fam. It was great to see all of my cousins and it was the first time that we had all been together in about 3 years so lots of pictures were taken. It was fun but it took forever. The food was amazing and the company was perfect. I love the holidays because I love my family. The 4 of us headed back to Austin that same night because somebody (me) had to be at work at 7am the next day. I'm not even going to touch the subject of the day after thanksgiving because we all know what happened and I am still trying to get over it. Freakin aggies...I HATE THEM!! Anyway I thought with Thanksgiving over everything would calm down and we would coast through the holidays, but Jake so lovingly reminded me that we have about 100 things to do and figure out between now and February. We have our semi anniversary coming up on the 14th!!! Then we have to figure out how to do the whole two families Christmas thing as well as having our own Christmas for just the two of us. After Christmas is new years and a friend of his birthday so we might be combining the two into a camping trip. No rest for the weary because after about a week and a half rest we head to Dallas one night for a concert and then 3 days later we drive to Colorado. I'm looking forward to all the fun and my lord I can't wait to see all of my friends, but the next few months are going to be chaotic.

That's all I've got for now but that's enough for me! Love you all, deuces!

It's Time!!!

Well tonight's the night, the tree is going up, the decorations are coming out and the first present will be wrapped and under the tree! It's time to decorate for Christmas!!! I can't wait. I've been waiting for a good 3 weeks now to put everything out. Jake was completely against putting anything up before thanksgiving but the main reason I was waiting really was because it just hasn't felt like winter yet. Well this morning when I woke up it was brisk enough outside to get me going. All the decorations have been pulled out of the closet for about a week now and tonight they get put to use. It also helps that LOST is going on a ridiculously long break and so I now have more free time to do things like make my apartment look cute for the holidays! I'm a nerd I know but hey I love this time of year.

Let's see besides decorating this week has been pretty busy. I made reservations for the hotel in Colorado for Mel's wedding. I can't wait to be there for what should be an awesome wedding and I ubber pumped to see snow this winter!! I also bought tickets and made more hotel reservations for the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in Dallas, the weekend before Mel's wedding. It's kind of fun that I get to stay in two pretty nice hotels in the span of a week. Lot's of travel but it will be fun! This week has also been good for the sole fact that I'm not sick anymore! It was pretty bad and no fun for anyone involved but thank goodness it's over and I can breathe again. Come to find out after taking it for 5 days one of the meds that I was on was making my coughing worse so yesterday I stopped taking it and magically no more coughing.

That's really all I've got for now but I hope everyone is having a great week before Thanksgiving!

Remember only 39 shopping days left!!!

Strep throat sucks!!!

So I think that I have strep throat....again. All the signs are there, I'm just waiting until I go to the doctor on Thursday to have it confirmed. I hate it, it's miserable and I get it at least once a year, only this year it has decided that when I had it in June it wasn't enough and it's back for round 2! Oh well what can you do other than sleep, eat, take vitamin c, and wait on Doc Hanley to prescribe me some amoxacilyn(it's sad I know what they give me, you'd think by now that they would let me write my own prescriptions!!)

Besides being stuck with this oh so fun ailment I am pretty much just hanging out. An old friend from high school moved back to town so I am looking forward to meeting up with her and catching up. Oh yes and I had my 5K this weekend and it was great. I was up bright and early...6am! It's always fun to leave the apartment when it's still dark outside and Lori(my sister) and Jake are still sleeping, not fair!! Mom and I met up and had fun walking around before the race. We found a tent at the race that had some pretty awesome chocolate chip cookies which later turned out to be a really bad idea. Anyway I wasn't planning on running the race but I ended up running a little bit so that I could make my time and finish under 45 minutes. I met my goal and beat it by 4 minutes. I am pretty excited about it and already have 3 more 5K's that I am going to do before Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas I am counting down the days until I can decorate!! Jake is under the impression that we have to wait til thanksgiving is over before we decorate for Christmas. Well that is all fine and good but I loooooove Christmas. I don't think people really understand, and before you get all angry and soap boxy...no it's not about the presents well at least not fully. I love cold weather, I love the zilker tree and the trail of lights, I love the decorations, and I love wrapping the gifts that I have gotten for all my loved ones, I love the stocking that my grandmother quilted for me and I love the stocking that she taught me how to quilt for Jake....I especially love the fact that those two stockings get to hang next to each other! I'm such a sentimental goober and I just get a little excited. It's all good I'm holding off on the decorating until the Saturday after thanksgiving but I don't like it. I'm really only kidding about wanting to decorate now but I think it's funny to play with Jake's head and watch him squirm.

Well that's about it for me, until next time!

Good Times!

This week has been a pretty uneventful week but it has been a good one! I've been going out every other night to get ready for the 5K i'm doing on sunday. Jake and I go out and do about 3 miles every time so that my body can get used to the distance. since I don't run. I am planning on walking the 5K...at a very fast pace. My goal is to finish in 45 minutes which I feel is so very do-able. I am doing the race with my mom and a ton of her friends but really I probably won't stay with them long since they'll be going little slower than I would like! I guess it's the competitiveness in me.

This is the first 5K I have attempted in years so it should be fun to get into it again. I'm excited about trying to get into shape again. I hope that by the time summer rolls around or at least the Brent Barry 5K in San Antonio i'll be able to run one. It's tough to not want to when you have a boyfriend who is going to do a huge 26 mile relay race in may with his father (who could school almost anyone I know in a foot race) and four other people. The race is in corpus and is done in 6 legs where each runner has 4.4 miles that they run. They joked about me running in it and I laughed. There is no way I would be ready for that but it's whatever. I will however be down there to cheer them on and hand out water or whatever they need when they finish. It should be a fun experience, but that is a ways away.

Oh yeah Halloween was a winner. We didn't do much other than hang out with Angie and Dan but in my book that is always a great time! Riley (jake's niece) loaded up and got a ton of candy, but then again why wouldn't she, she's only the coolest kid in town! Jake was a doctor, I was a pregnant Brittany Spears and riley was a cheerleader. On our way over to angie, riley and daniels we stopped by the store to grab a bottle of wine and let me tell you the looks I got while scanning the wine isle were priceless. Some guy looked at me like he was sooo cunfused and then when I went to check out the lady at the register had to ask to make sure that the wine wasn't for me. I thought it was pretty obvioous that it was a pillow under my shirt but I guess it was a little more convincing than I thought.

Ok so lastly, I promise I will try to be somewhat respectful this year and not bring it up that much but lets just put it out there that the Mavs are of the Devil and the Spurs Kick a$$!! Last night was the perfect way to start the come back season. I can't wait to see my guys get it going. I know pre-season doesn't count on the record books but a win is a win and so far this year the Mavs have been beat twice by the Spurs! I'm not saying that the Mavs won't sneak one in on us later in the season, I'm not that naive, but I do know that I don't waiver on my team just becuase the season didn't end the way we all wanted it too. And lets not forget that the finals don't mean anything unless you get a ring on opening night and as I recall it wasn't the Mavs raising that championship banner or putting on the new "bling" (sidenote - the championship rings that the Heat got set a whole new definition for bling, good freaking night those things are huge and goddy!!!) Mark Cuban and some of his players said it best "we don't like them, they don't like us!" and I couldn't agree more. I may respect Avery Johnson, and I might think that Dirk is a great player but as a whole I can't stand the organization...mainly becuase of cuban but that is a whole different rant! I'll get off my soap box and let the season play out but i'm just glad that the boys are off to a great start. Go SPURS Go!!!

Sucks to lose at home on opening night!
